Henry Dummer is to be the new Chief Marketing Officer at Bank of Ireland. He will join the bank on June 1st having previously served as Marketing Director of eir for the past two years and Tesco for five years before that.
Dummer came to Ireland in 2006 as one of Diageo’s senior marketing managers. One of his senior lieutenants in the new role will be Gemma Bell, Bank of Ireland’s Sponsorship Manager who also came to the company from a spell at Diageo.

Announcing the appointment on Friday, Bank of Ireland CEO Francesca McDonagh said “I previously announced the creation of a new position of Chief Marketing Officer – a critical role as we work to define the Bank’s brand strategy, deliver our strategic priority of serving customers brilliantly, and achieve our goal of being first for brand and customer service. I am now delighted to announce the appointment of Henry Dummer to this position.”
“Henry brings a wealth of marketing experience in consumer, digital and business-to-business marketing. Leading a Group marketing team, he will drive the development of a strong brand for Bank of Ireland, shaping and delivering a differentiated position for the Bank in the markets in which it operates.”
Bank of Ireland were the first sponsors of the GAA All Ireland Football Championship, breaking new ground in 1994 and remaining as the sole sponsor until the change to a multi-sponsor model in 2007.
