Bord Gáis Energy is to focus very much on the exclusive possibilities that sponsorship gives to its most engaged customers this summer.

The brand is in its third year of partnership with the All Ireland Senior Hurling Championship and it brought Joe Canning and Young Hurler of the Year Kyle Hayes to Dublin yesterday for the launch and some pretty spectacular photography with Brendan Moran from Sportsfile.

Both players have been previously involved as ambassadors for Bord Gáis Energy’s long term sponsorship of the U20 Hurling Championship and attracted a strong crew of media representatives.

The focus on Bord Gáis Energy Rewards Club customers will see them enjoy exclusive access to match tickets, the best match day experiences, behind the scenes access, and question and answer sessions with some of the country’s biggest hurling stars at Bord Gáis Energy Cupán Tae events.

Bord Gáis Energy’s #HurlingToTheCore ambassadors will also lead a series of training camps this summer exclusively for Bord Gáis Energy Rewards Club members.

Young players will be mentored by their heroes at some of the country’s top GAA grounds including on the hallowed sod at Croke Park.

“At Bord Gáis Energy we know how loved hurling is in the communities in which our customers, and indeed our colleagues, live and work,” said Managing Director Catherine O’Kelly.

“Through the Bord Gáis Energy Rewards Club, we’re delighted to have the opportunity to offer our customers unmissable experiences and bring them closer to the action throughout the season.”

The company uses bespoke software to identify the customers with the greatest propensity to enjoy the Hurling experience and invest heavily in making sure that ‘below the line’ marketing is to the fore.

“We have received great feedback from customers on the kind of targetted offers that we have produced over the last two years,” said Sponsorship Manager Sorcha Fennell-Sheehan speaking to Sport for Business yesterday.

“The ability to bring our customers closer to the action, and to the heroes of the game is something very special and it works for us based on the key metrics that we apply to our sponsorship activation.”

“We will be supporting the ‘Throw In podcast through Independent News and Media and we also have exciting plans in the social media space that we will be unveiling over the coming weeks.”

“The Bord Gáis Energy Cupán Tae is back again with events at some of the key games in the Championship. That was a real winner from last year and one we are happy to bring back again.”

“Our focus is very much on enhancing the enjoyment that our customers get from this great sporting Championship.”

2019 marks the third year of Bord Gáis Energy’s sponsorship of the GAA Hurling All-Ireland Senior Championship. It was also announced last month that the partnership has been extended by a further three years and will now run to 2022.

Bord Gáis Energy is also title sponsor of the U-20 GAA Hurling All-Ireland Championship and is of the Bord Gáis Energy GAA Legends Tours of Croke Park.

“Bord Gáis Energy have made a serious commitment to hurling over the last number of years and have become synonymous with the game,” said GAA president John Horan.

Their continued support of the GAA Hurling All-Ireland Senior Championship, as well as their long-standing sponsorship of the U-20 competition and the Legends Tours at Croke Park, is a mark of their support of Gaelic games and particularly hurling.”

“I would like to extend my thanks to Catherine O’Kelly and all the team at Bord Gáis Energy for their continued support and partnership.”
