The future of sport as we know it hinges on getting fans back into stadia. This is especially true in Ireland where the IRFU, FAI and GAA rely to a very high level on the income generated by matchday ticketing and revenue.

RETURN TO SPORT CONFERENCE SET FOR APRIL 29TH
On Thursday, April 29th Sport for Business will host a morning conference on where we are with regard to the return of sport and the return of fans to our sporting stadia.
We will bring together sporting bodies and stadium operators to see how they are preparing for a relaxation of public health restrictions and we will explore how things are being managed in other jurisdictions.
We will also talk with sponsors and technology companies to see what the stadium environment will look like once fans start to return.
The Sport for Business Return to Sport Conference is launched today, Tuesday, March 30th and we hope you will find it of interest.

TOKYO TEST EVENTS BACK ON SCHEDULE
A test event for athletics in Tokyo could take place in May at which overseas competitors and spectators could yet be allowed.
No test events have taken place in a year but the programme is due to get underway this weekend with an operational test event for Wheelchair Rugby.
This is one of 18 events scheduled to take place prior to the Games testing various of the systems that will be in the spotlight across July, August and September.

FA LOOKING AT MINIMUM 10,000 FANS FOR EUROS
British Government culture secretary Oliver Dowden has revealed to Sky News that they hope to accommodate substantially more than 10,000 fans at matches in the later stages of the 2020 Euro Championship Finals in June and July.
The FA Cup Semi-Finals will be a first test event for the number of 10,000 due to be allowed after May 17th.
Plans are being progressed for removal of all restrictions on June 21st which would include the Semi-Finals and Finals of the Euro’s, due to be held at Wembley Stadium.

NEON GOLF BALLS
The first easing of restrictions in the UK happened yesterday across the UK with some facilities opening at a minute past midnight to allow activity.
At one course in Derbyshire, players teed off with Neon golf balls.
We await news of a potential easing of restrictions in Ireland later today.
