The events industry has been hard hit through Covid. Sport for Business has had to move all of our events online but in so doing has multiplied the reach of who we engage with and the ease of dropping in to see top quality content.

That said we miss the human interaction of the real-world events and so will look forward to their return in the coming months.

Among our membership, the events sector has been creative in meeting the changed reality of hosting events from employee engagement to the arts, retail to sport.

It was especially gratifying then to see so much success for them at the major Global Eventex Awards staged, virtually but very stylishly, last week.

The biggest winner was Fuel which picked up no fewer than ten awards including two Grand Prix.

They emerged on top from no less than 561 entries out of 37 countries around the world. The competition recognises excellence in every aspect of the event industry – from events and experiences to event technology, suppliers, venues, and destinations.

The top-performing entry was the creation, with fellow Sport for Business member Teneo, of the Focus Ireland Christmas Window display. Tha won the Grand Prix Gold Marketing Campaign Award, Gold in the Not for Profit and Government Sector and Silver in the People’s Choice.

They also picked up Gold for All Together – A Paypal December to Remember in the Live Streaming Event category, Silver for the Fuel Engage Event, and Bronze in the Grand Prix Agency of the Year, as well as other awards for work with Dundrum Town Centre and Accenture.

“None of these awards would have been possible without our amazing clients and partners,” said co-founder Jamie Deasy. “Thank you to them for their support and collaboration. We look forward to continuing to create great work with them in the coming years.”

“We were delighted to work with a fantastic organisation like Focus to locate, design and build the Christmas activation,” added fellow co-founder Brian McDermott.

“It was a first for Focus Ireland and sought to highlight the issue of emergency accommodation at Christmas. The activation generated nationwide coverage.”

The FAI were also in the winners circle picking up Gold in the B2C Event category with Grooveyard entertainment for the National Football Exhibition, a project managed by Sport for Business 30 Under 30 nominee Colm Hand.

Fuel, Teneo and the FAI are among more than 250+ members of the Sport for Business network of sporting and business organisations working together across a number of key areas.
