SSE Airtricity has been deepening its engagement with clubs and players through an innovative programme called ‘A Common Goal’.

The initiative is tied into the sponsor’s commitment to sustainability and aimed at improving the environmental sustainability of the wider community by uniting the clubs, players, and fans of the SSE Airtricity Premier, First and Women’s National Leagues.

SSE Airtricity are on a mission to build a greener world, starting with supplying 100 per cent Green Energy to homes and businesses across the island, but they also recognise the small actions that we each take as individuals can make a huge difference to our environment and the communities we are all a part of.

The campaign is being driven by a content series a selection of the videos for which can be seen below.

They focus on players showcasing their skills and exploring their local areas while providing hints and tips on sustainability.

Six players will engage in some healthy competition by taking part in challenges each month as they take on a different green theme and hero the positive action they are making towards our common goal.

Players taking part in this campaign include David Cawley of Sligo Rovers, Cork City’s Sarah McKevitt, Tadhg Ryan of Treaty United, Bohemians’ Keith Buckley, Galway United’s Shauna Fox and UCD’s Jack Keaney.

“We’re absolutely delighted to be partnering with the Irish football community in bringing A Common Goal to life,” said SSE Airtricity Marketing Manager Leanne Sheill.

“Over the last 12 years, we have witnessed at first hand the ability of football to inspire our communities and believe that with this campaign we can make a positive difference on our journey to building a greener world.”

“We know the huge impact small actions can make and look forward to inspiring others to join Generation Green as they follow our players through this campaign”.

A Common Goal will cover a different theme each month until the leagues finish in October, which will see players taking part in challenges relating to Community Cleans, Water Efficiency, Sustainable Transport, Reducing Waste & Plastics and Energy Efficiency.
