Cork GAA has signed a sponsorship deal with Chill Insurance believed to be worth more than €1 million over the next three years.
The deal covers the senior Football and Hurling teams as well as U21 and Minor and replaces the deal with O2 which was Cork’s first commercial deal but which came to an and at the conclusion of last season.
Talks had been ongoing with a number of partners and the deadline for this year’s replica kit peak buying Christmas period was missed but the right deal was always worth waiting for and the value of this is in line with what was being brought in from O2.
Cork’s strength in both codes and strong following makes them second only to Dublin in terms of the value of the sponsorship deal among inter county teams.
Chill Insurance is a wholly Irish owned insurance broker that has been in existence since 2007 and rebranded to Chill in 2008.  It is based in Blackrock, County Dublin with retail stores in four major Dublin Shopping Centres and currently employs 150 staff with plans to take on more.
It is likely this deal will lead to a retail presence in Cork before too long as well.
“We are delighted to have forged this agreement to sponsor Cork’s football and hurling greats,” said Fergal Lynch, Head of Marketing and retail for Chill Insurance.
“As a growing Irish company, we look for family and community sponsorships to link with our customers and build our brand. With legions of Cork GAA supporters and such high-performing teams, the Chill Insurance brand will be very much at home in the rebel county.”
“An association with Cork GAA is a high profile sporting opportunity,” added Cork County Board Chairman Bob Ryan. “We have an obligation to find partners that share our ethos and are committed to our teams, clubs and supporters.
“Chill Insurance is a strong Irish business, with the same determination to succeed as our players, so it is a good day for Cork GAA all round.”
