Gymnastics Ireland will get the New Year underway with the development of a new strategy targeted at retaining current and recruiting new female teenagers in gymnastics.
The initiative is in partnership with the Sport Ireland Women in Sport programme.
To kick this development off in January, it will be delivering a new Sport Ireland coaching workshop – “Coaching Teenagers in Sport’.
This will be followed up in February by the commencement of a research piece in partnership with Women in Sport UK, the outcome of which will further frame our strategy for development in this area.
“While we know we are very strong in the youth market as a primarily youth-based sport, we still want to grow our teenage participation rates and this new strategy, once developed, will provide us with a clear framework to do this,” said Gymnastics Ireland Participation Manager Aimi Baker.
One of the new Sport for Business Initiatives in 2022 will be a focus on teenage and school sport. Find out more about this when we return in the New Year.
