James O’Sullivan – Beacon Hospital Sports Lab

James O’Sullivan works in a development role expanding the Sports Lab at the Beacon Hospital in South Dublin.

He graduated with an Honours Degree in Sports and Exercise Management from University College Dublin in 2017 and gained extensive experience working with a variety of sporting organizations both at home and abroad before joining the Beacon Hospital in June 2021.

He competed with and coached the Blackrock College Rowing team and spent a year with Rowing Ireland as a Development Coach. He was the venue manager for weekly social tag rugby tournaments for men and women around Dublin city while working with Alive Outside.

He spent a year in Edinburgh, Scotland working at JudoScotland in a performance operations role managing the logistical requirements for the Scottish national team, and with a corporate team building company.

He is currently training for Ironman Cork in August 2022. James won a national championship in the men’s 8 in 2016 along with completing the Dublin marathon later that year.

The criteria for nomination is that they should either be working in a role that sees them playing a significant part in sports administration, sports marketing or the commercial world of sport; or that they are a graduate of an Irish third-level institution and making their mark on the international stage, and that they were born in or after 1992.
