Ireland’s Fittest School is back for a second year following its success last time out.

After the highly successful first year which saw Scoil Na Croise Naofa from Dunfanaghy in Co. Donegal crowned Ireland’s Fittest School, the race for new winners has begun again this week.

Created in 2018, Fyffes Fit Squad is a multi-award-winning programme that gets kids active through easy-to-learn and fun-to-do exercises. It was suspended during the last few years because of Covid, but now marks another step to the road to normality.

Before the enforced break, over 20,000 children across the island of Ireland took part in the face-to-face school programme, delivered by Irish health and fitness experts, Tom Dalton and Sarah Ryan.

Each 45-minute session includes an active workout plus talks and tips on healthy eating, all designed to improve children’s general fitness through engaging and fun-filled activities.

Fyffes will be awarding the title and the Grand Prize to the school that earns the most ‘banana points’ when the campaign finishes on March 31st, 2023.

Watch out for news next week of a Sport for Business Special Event on Sport and Education on the morning of November 18th.
