Allianz Insurance have announced a new partnership with record-breaking Irish sprinter, Rhasidat Adeleke.

The multi-year deal will welcome Rhasidat on board as the newest sporting ambassador of Allianz Insurance, as the brand commits to supporting the 20-year-old’s bid to compete at the Olympic Games in Paris 2024.

At 20 years old, in her third year at the University of Texas, the Dublin native is continuing her senior record-breaking streak, having dominated the athletics track at underage level.

At just 15 years old, Rhasidat won the gold medal in the 200m at the European Athletics U18 Championships, capturing the 100m and 200m sprint double at the European Youth Olympics the following year. In August 2022, she placed fifth in the 400m final at the European Championships held in Munich.

Rhasidat has had a stellar start to her 2023 season, setting yet another Irish indoor record in the 400m last weekend with a time of 50.33. This time moves Adeleke to 13th on the world indoor all-time list and the fastest time in history, indoors or outdoors by an Irish woman.

In 2018, Allianz officially launched its eight-year worldwide partnership with the Olympic & Paralympic Movements, further strengthening their collaboration with the Paralympic programme which began in 2006.

Locally, Allianz Ireland has been a proud partner of Paralympics Ireland since 2010 and in 2021, Allianz announced their official partnership with the Olympic Federation of Ireland, a sponsorship spanning across the Olympic Winter Games 2022 and the Olympic Games Paris 2024.

The partnership sees Allianz connecting the Olympic and Paralympic Games to fans nationwide, whilst supporting the athletes competing on their journey to success. Rhasidat joins a number of outstanding athletes that Allianz has supported including Jason Smyth and Michael McKillop, and currently Paralympic champion Ellen Keane.

“At Allianz, we are committed to helping Irish athletes nationwide achieve their goals, and are thrilled to welcome Rhasidat as our new ambassador,” said CEO Sean McGrath.

“Rhasidat’s determination, drive, and passion for excellence make her an inspiration to all, and we look forward to working with her to make a positive impact in the lead-up to Paris 2024. Together we will strive to empower others to dream of and reach their full potential.”

“I’m really honoured and excited to be joining Allianz Insurance as their newest ambassador,” added Adeleke.

“I have seen first-hand the hugely positive impact Allianz has had through their partnership with the OFI and through their work with some of Ireland’s greatest athletes.”

“As an athlete, I know the importance of teamwork and dedication, and I believe that Allianz share those values. I look forward to the journey ahead as an ambassador for Allianz as I begin to write my own future with their support backing me every step of the way.”

Allianz was announced as an official sponsor of the GAA All-Ireland Senior Football Championship, the Camogie Association, and the GAA Museum at Croke Park as part of a three-year deal.

The company has proudly sponsored the Allianz Football and Hurling Leagues for 31 years, making it one of Ireland’s longest-running sports sponsorships and one of GAA’s longest-committed supporters.

It is also a long term partner of Sport for Business supporting our annual Sport for Social Good Conference and Report which will launch for 2023 in the coming weeks.
