Rhys McClenaghan and the rest of Team ireland at the european Gymnastics Championships in Italy will have their finals broadcast on RTÉ this weekend, a direct benefit of the dawn of Eurovision Sport.

McClenaghan’s Pommel Final will be shown live on RTÉ2 and the RTÉ Player this evening, alongside Dominic Cunningham’s Vault Final and Sunday’s Men’s Team Final.

Eurovision Sport Executive Director appeared on a Sport Ireland webinar this week to talk about the new service that comes from the combined might of Europe’s public service broadcasters allowing for a live stream of a significant ly greater number of sports that was previously possible, all in a single place at the Eurovision sport website.

Additionally it allows for the broadcasters to take feeds and commentary from venues that they might otherwise have been unable to because of budget.

Then whe performance and schedule combine they can switch in to their own streaming or mainstream channels, exactly what is happening here for the Gymnastics.

It is a win for the sport and for RTÉ, as well as for the general public who can watch uninterrupted coverage of the Finals this evening on the RTÉ Player from 4:50 and from 17:30 for just over an hour on RTÉ2.

Eurovision Sport is also showing the European Championships in Rowing this weekend. It’s ease of access is a real benefit for viewers and for the sports.
