It has been a special day for Camogie today marking it’s 120nd anniversary with a host of events around the country.
The first ever match, as far as the oral history can tell us took place in Tailteann Park, navan between two Dublin Clubs – Jeatings and Cuchullains.
The same venue was host today to one of the many birthday party events across all four provinces with thousands of young girls having a day to remember.
Here is how the day was marked in words, pictures and video across the Camogie social accounts.
On this day 120 years ago, the first official camogie match after the formation of The Camogie Association was played on July 17th 1904 between Dublin clubs Keatings and CĂșchulainns in Pairc Tailteann in Navan, Co. Meath.#Camogie120#OurGameOurPassion pic.twitter.com/93XKxThxvU
