With the KPMG Women’s Irish Open starting on Thursday and strong Irish representation in the Curtis Cup through the weekend, there is plenty of golf to occupy our attention. We can also add in the World University Championship taking place in Finland, which has five Irish golfers taking part.
The action begins today at Ruuhikoski Golf Club with Barry Fennelly leading out a team of five Irish players.
Recent Palmer Cup golfer Ryan Griffin from Letterkenny will be joined by fellow Maynooth University stars David Kitt from Athenry and Simon Walker from Roscommon.
Ulster University is also represented, with Kate Dwyer of Rossmore and Ellen O’Gorman of Laytown & Bettystown in action.
The golf gets underway this morning and finishes on Friday. O’Gorman is first up for Ireland; she tees off at 8:31 a.m. She is followed by Dwyer at 8:42, then Griffin at 11:41, Kitt at 12:05, and Walker at 12:16 for their first rounds.
