After a brilliant send-off from Energia at the Mansion House on Wednesday night (We’ll be looking at that campaign in detail next week), yesterday the Irish Women’s Rugby team got to see the new Vodafone ad that will be appearing across RTÉ’s coverage of the Women’s Rugby World Cup starting in two weeks’ time.

It was a day of media interviews, picture capture and swag delivery but before all that started the team gathered around a screen set up at the IRFU High Performance centre to see for the first time what the theme they had adopted for themselves as a group, looked like with the support of Vodafone and the magic of the team at 53Six.

They had been blown away by the squad reveal video from earlier in the week, and this is another step.

“Where does a wave start? With a trickle, a ripple of joy, of being a part of something? It becomes a swell. As it builds to a crest, you know there’s more following behind a movement… a Green Wave,” says the voiceover on top of images of action, fans and quieter moments.

“We are delighted to launch a joint collaboration between Vodafone and Irish Rugby — the “Join the Green Wave” campaign,” said Gerry Nixon, Head of Sponsorship at Vodafone Ireland.

“The Green Wave is the Ireland Women’s team’s high-performance mantra, representing the power of the collective and the momentum that builds as they inspire the next generation.”

“As the main sponsor of Irish Rugby, being entrusted by the team to share that message with fans around the country is a huge privilege.”

“The campaign is now live, with activations across TV, OOH, DOOH, digital, social, and in our retail stores — where we will proudly screen all of Ireland’s World Cup matches in-store.”

“We’re also thrilled to announce that we are sponsoring RTÉ’s coverage of the Women’s Rugby World Cup.”

“Finally, to Scott, Sam, Edel, and the entire team and backroom staff — we wish you the very best of luck in the weeks ahead. We’re all behind you.”
