Dublin GAA and Staycity have announced a new initiative aimed at celebrating the volunteer and amateur photographers who document the adult inter-county and club games across all four Gaelic codes in the capital.
The initiative, titled Staycity Snap, will see some of the best images captured each weekend featured across the official Instagram accounts of Dublin GAA, Dublin Camogie and Dublin Ladies Football. Accredited club photographers are invited to submit their work for weekly recognition, with an overall winner to be chosen by public vote at the end of the season.
The overall winner will receive Staycity vouchers worth €500, redeemable at locations across Dublin, the UK and Europe, along with a €500 voucher for Bermingham Cameras. Runner-up prizes will also be awarded.
Volunteer photographers can enter by tagging Staycity and the relevant Dublin Gaelic Games Instagram accounts and using the hashtag #StaycitySnap. Each week, selected images will be highlighted online, before finalists are chosen later in the year. One image will ultimately be crowned the Staycity Snap of the Season 2026.
Speaking at the launch, Denise O’Donnell, Sponsorship Lead with Staycity, said the initiative reflects the company’s appreciation for the contribution of volunteers within Gaelic games.
“Everyone knows and appreciates that the volunteer is at the heart of what Gaelic games are about, and we in Staycity want to celebrate those that give so willingly of their time to follow their county or their club, to help promote and highlight those games and those players,” she said.
“This is the first of a number of initiatives where we hope to celebrate all those that make our games so special, the volunteers, and we look forward to bringing more of those stories to life in the months ahead.”
Marcus Ó Buachalla, Chief Commercial Officer with Dublin GAA, said the work of volunteer photographers is visible on sidelines across the county in all conditions.
“You only have to look at any sideline, across any of our clubs, in all types of weather, to see the work that these volunteer photographers do on a weekly basis promoting their clubs, their county and the brilliant players that play our sports,” he said.
“What should not be forgotten either is the work that they do documenting and capturing special occasions or the special people and moments in our clubs’ histories.”
“Their images add depth to the stories being written and told across club annuals, club websites and social media platforms, to be celebrated and remembered for generations to come, and I am delighted that, together with Staycity, we will shine a light on that work going forward.”
The weekly celebration begins this weekend, with the first selection of images set to be published next Wednesday, February 25th, 2026.
