Eight Great Sporting Events in Ireland This Weekend

1. GAA All-Ireland Senior Football Championship: Donegal v Cork

Saturday, June 13th, MacCumhaill Park, Ballybofey, 3pm
Donegal against Cork brings together two counties with very different football traditions but a shared need to make progress through the All-Ireland series. Ballybofey is rarely an easy place for visiting teams, and Cork will need to manage both the opposition and the atmosphere. It is one of the standout men’s football fixtures of the weekend.

2. TG4 All-Ireland Senior Championship: Waterford v Cork

Saturday, June 13th, Fraher Field, Dungarvan, 7.30pm
Waterford against Cork brings Munster rivalry into the All-Ireland Senior Championship spotlight. Cork come into the game needing a response after defeat to Armagh in Round 1, while Waterford have home advantage at Fraher Field. The fixture is also being carried live on TG4, giving it a strong national platform.

3. Women at the Helm Regatta

Saturday and Sunday, June 13th and 14th, National Yacht Club, Dún Laoghaire
The Women at the Helm Regatta returns to the National Yacht Club in Dún Laoghaire, running alongside the NYC Regatta. With female sailors helming across dinghies and keelboats, it is a strong inclusion for both performance and participation, and one of the standout women-in-sport events of the weekend.

4. GAA All-Ireland Senior Football Championship: Kildare v Kerry

Saturday, June 13th, Cedral St Conleth’s Park, Newbridge, 5.30pm
Kerry on the road to Newbridge is one of the more intriguing men’s football championship fixtures of the weekend. Kildare will look to make home advantage count, while Kerry need to keep their summer moving after earlier setbacks. It is not among the televised games, which may only sharpen the attraction of being there.

5. WTC Hook or By Crook Triathlon

Saturday, June 13th, Dunmore East, Co Waterford, 10am
The Hook or By Crook Triathlon brings swim, bike and run competition to one of Ireland’s most scenic coastal settings. Listed on the Triathlon Ireland calendar as an adult sprint event, it offers a strong participation-sport element to the weekend and a reminder of the growing strength of triathlon clubs around the country.

6. Castleknock 5K

Sunday, June 14th, Castleknock, Dublin, 11am
The Castleknock 5K gives the weekend a strong athletics and community running strand. Taking place on Sunday morning and hosted by Metro/St Brigid’s Athletic Club, it is the kind of accessible mass-participation event that brings club runners, families and local supporters together around a well-established Dublin road race.

7. Glen Dimplex All-Ireland Senior Camogie Championship: Tipperary v Cork
Sunday, June 14th, FBD Semple Stadium, Thurles, 3.30pm
A heavyweight camogie meeting in Thurles, with Tipperary and Cork meeting in Group 1 of the Glen Dimplex All-Ireland Senior Championship. Cork opened with a statement win over Galway, while Tipperary will be looking to bounce back from defeat to Waterford. It has all the ingredients of a proper championship marker.

8. TG4 All-Ireland Senior Championship: Dublin v Donegal

Saturday, June 13th, Parnell Park, 3pm
Dublin welcome Donegal to Parnell Park in Group 3 of the TG4 All-Ireland Senior Championship, with a quarter-final place within reach for the home side. It is also another strong showcase for the depth of the women’s football championship, with live digital coverage helping to bring the game to a wider audience.
