Volleyball Ireland has begun the search for a new part-time Chief Executive Officer to lead the sport through its next phase of development.

The National Governing Body for volleyball in Ireland has advertised the permanent role on a 0.6 full-time equivalent basis, which equates to approximately 3 days, or 21 hours, per week.

The position will be based on a hybrid model, with the Sport Ireland Campus in Dublin 15 serving as the primary work location. Attendance at selected events, stakeholder meetings and occasional national and international travel will also form part of the role.

Volleyball Ireland is responsible for the promotion, development and governance of the sport across clubs, schools, competitions, national teams, beach volleyball, volunteers, coaches, referees and the wider volleyball community.

The appointment comes as the organisation looks to build on recent development work while ensuring the leadership structure is sustainable for a part-time CEO.

The Board has said that the role has been designed within a broader organisational structure, supported by operational and finance resources, allowing the CEO to focus on strategic leadership, governance, stakeholder engagement and the continued development of volleyball in Ireland.

The successful candidate will report to the Board, with the President or Chair acting as the primary reporting interface.

The role will centre on delivering Board-approved strategic priorities while also preparing for the next strategic planning cycle. Strengthening relationships with Sport Ireland, CEV, FIVB, clubs, commissions, volunteers, sponsors, partners and relevant public bodies will be among the core responsibilities.

There will also be a focus on supporting the development of a sustainable operating model for a 0.6 FTE Chief Executive structure, as well as identifying realistic commercial, sponsorship and partnership opportunities.

Governance, financial oversight, safeguarding, risk management and Board reporting will also sit within the remit, alongside the leadership and development of the staff team and key operational leads.

Volleyball Ireland is seeking candidates with senior leadership or senior management experience, strong stakeholder management and decision-making skills, financial acumen, governance awareness and a proven track record of delivery.

Experience within a National Governing Body, sports organisation, membership body, not-for-profit organisation, public-interest body, or comparable environment would be beneficial, though candidates from other sectors will also be considered where they can demonstrate the required skills, motivation, and adaptability.

The organisation has said the role is likely to suit someone who is credible, organised, collaborative, financially astute and comfortable leading within a small, growing and resource-conscious organisation.

The salary range for the role is €42,000 to €48,000 on a 0.6 FTE basis.

Applications should include a CV of no more than two pages, a LinkedIn profile link where available, and a covering statement of no more than one page outlining interest in the role and how the candidate’s experience aligns with the position’s priorities.

Applications should be sent to Adrian McCarthy at Broadgate Search at adrian.mccarthy@broadgatesearch.com.

The closing date for applications is Tuesday, June 23rd, 2026.

Volleyball Ireland has said the recruitment process will be structured and evidence-based, with shortlisted candidates assessed against agreed competencies including leadership, stakeholder management, financial literacy, governance, delivery track record, commercial judgement and alignment with the requirements of the role.

The organisation has also committed to a fair, transparent and objective recruitment process.
