The 2026 GAIN The Advantage Series will conclude at Listowel Racecourse on Monday, September 21, during the Harvest Festival.

Richard Donohoe and Peter Lawlor share the lead in the trainers’ standings on 12 points ahead of the sixth and final race in the series.

Donohoe moved into contention following Daboya’s victory at Ballinrobe, while Lawlor secured maximum points when Numidia won at Down Royal.

The series began at Leopardstown in June and subsequently visited Ballinrobe, Fairyhouse, Down Royal and Navan.

A total of 38 entries have been received for the Listowel finale, with several trainers still capable of claiming the overall title.

The winning trainer will receive €5,000 worth of GAIN Equine Nutrition products.

The breeders of the six series winners will enter a draw for one tonne of GAIN feed. The winning grooms from each race will enter a separate draw for a €250 Mount Juliet Estate voucher.

The series is now in its sixth year.

“It is widely recognised across the industry for its vital support to owners, trainers, breeders and stable staff,” said GAIN Equine Nutrition Irish Country Manager Philip Gilligan.

“A total of 38 entries for the final leg speaks to the importance of the series.”

Sport for Business Perspective

GAIN The Advantage is structured to recognise the wider network behind a racehorse rather than focusing exclusively on the winning owner or trainer.

Including breeders and stable staff strengthens the sponsor’s connection with the people who use its products and contribute to the daily operation of the racing industry.

The prize for the winning trainer is also delivered in GAIN products, linking the commercial investment directly to the company’s core business. The six-race format provides sustained visibility across multiple racecourses rather than concentrating the sponsorship within a single meeting.

After six years, the series has developed familiarity and credibility. The 38 entries for the final race suggest it has value within the industry, while also giving GAIN a national platform spanning the Flat racing season.
