AIB GAA HurlingThe Inter county teams take up much of the media space but the bedrock of the GAA is at club level as we have written about many times. The pinnacle of the grassroots game is the AIB sponsored All Ireland Club Championships which are moving towards the semi final stage in both hurling and football.
AIB’s campaign this year has been based around the idea of being ‘The Toughest’ and they have activated through social media, video and other forms of marketing.
Clubs have taken well to twitter as a means of communication with players and members and also as a means of spreading the word to far flung fans and former members.
The official AIB GAA twitter account has just 2,700 followers but it’s reach through the campaign being played onwards through competing as well as rival clubs and through media commentators like Des Cahill and Damien O’Meara gives it a much stronger push through social channels.
The key to social engagement is the production of good content which people want to share and that was delivered this week with a challenge laid down to the four semi final clubs and their most ‘accurate’ marksmen.
