AIG has added to its long term partnership with Golf Ireland by becoming the official sponsor of the AIG Irish Women’s Amateur Close Championship, which takes place in Ballybunion, County Kerry, this weekend.
AIG already proudly sponsor a number of prominent Golf Ireland tournaments and competitions, including the AIG Men’s Irish Amateur Close Championship. AIG are also the long-standing sponsor of the biggest amateur golf competition in Ireland, the AIG Men’s and Women’s Cups and Shields tournaments that involves every club across Ireland. It sponsors the AIG Women’s British Open, one of the four Majors in the sport.
It is also a statement of the brand’s long term commitment to supporting Women in Sport. Its sponsorship of the AIG Irish Open Men’s Tennis tournament was contingent on the revival of the Irish Women’s Open in parallel. Its partnership with Dublin GAA extends over each of the four codes of Gaelic Games and it has been a partner of Sport for Business in our Game Changer mentoring programme.
One of its key partnership values is to promote that the effort, commitment and dedication of leading sportswomen is equal to that of their male counterparts.
The AIG Irish Women’s Amateur Close Championship will be contested by more than 70 of the country’s top women’s amateur players at Ballybunion Golf Club, which is consistently rated as one of the best courses in the country.
