We were privileged to once again be a partner of the PExpo yesterday at Dublin City University. A bigger number of school projects than ever before, almost 1,000 students displaying a vibrant and innovative approach to how they see sport and physical activity, and an infectious enthusiasm that would inspire confidence that our world is in good hands.

The Olympic Federation of Ireland were backers of the event this year for the first time and we had the pleasure of hosting a conversation with Olympians Aifric Keogh and Marcus Lawler on how they got into sport at school, their advice for the students more than anything else to enjoy their sport and stories of what it was like to compete at the Tokyo Olympic Games.

We also spoke on stage with Roisin Jones, who together with Roisin McGettigan has developed dare to Believe into a programme that is reaching into schools to inspire children to be active and to dream.

The Sport for Business Award went to Killian McGrath of Coláiste Mhuire in Mullingar who has conceived, created and built a working Bike Safety System that we believe has real promise to be developed into a business idea.

We will invite Killian to speak at our Sponsorship Showcase event later this year and part of the prize will be mentoring on how he might take his ideas to the next stage.

He also picked up the ICT Award

The overall prize was won by Aisling Mullin, Katie Dowds and Síne Ryan from St Columba’s College in Stranorlar, County Donegal, and their teacher Catherine Cooke-Harkin for their Mind over Matter project.

Other projects to catch the eye of the judges were GarusoBall in the Games Development Category, on the impacts of sleep and feedback on performance, on nutrition and on managing Sickle Cell disease.

This event is one of our favourite of the year and we are already looking forward to it’s 10th anniversary in 2024 when it will continue to grow bigger and better with the help of partners.
