Newstalk GreyhoundGreyhound Racing has embarked on a major campaign to open up its appeal to new audiences and new business partners.

The 10 greyhound stadia owned by the Irish Greyhound Board are to be marketed individually in terms of potential naming rights deals.

These include Shelbourne Park and Harold’s Cross Stadium in Dublin as well as Curraheen Park in Cork and Limerick Stadium.

There is to be a redesign of branding and online media as well as further national advertising campaigns.

As part of this Newstalk’s Breakfast show took ownership last week of Razldazl Newstalk, a dog they will follow through the summer as he competes in the Boylesports.com Irish Greyhound Derby.

Late Late Show

The campaign hopes to revisit the success of ‘Late Late Show’ a dog gifted to Pat Kenny at RTE in 2007 who went on to win Greyhound of the Year accolades and over €200,000 in prize money that was distributed among different charities.

At the launch Colin Walsh, Director of Commercial Operations, Irish Greyhound Board said “The Irish Greyhound Board Ownership Committee is delighted to facilitate this partnership and look forward to working with Ivan Yates & Chris Donoghue on supporting their newest Newstalk Breakfast Team Member.”

Newstalk Breakfast presenter, Ivan Yates said “We’re absolutely thrilled to be involved with Dolores Ruth as a trainer, and with a dog that has such great potential. We look forward to bringing the excitement of a night at the dogs to the listeners”.

Boylesports.com came on board as sponsors of the Irish Greyhound Derby earlier this month. The competition gets underway on August 7th and will run through to mid September.

Sport for Business will have an interview with Colin Walsh of the Irish Greyhound Board in the coming weeks where he will outline the thinking behind the new campaign and what benefits there are for business in a closer association to the sport.
