
An article in the Sunday Independent by Brendan Fanning highlights the drop off points for children’s involvement in sport. Losing one in five players between secondary and third level is serious but not nearly so much as the 50% drop off between children playing mini rugby to age 12 and when they start into secondary school.
We have announced our first three sessions with Karen Cotter looking at the success of the Active Flag campaign in schools, Sinead Galvin of Athletics Ireland highlighting the way in which a new sponsorship has helped bring little athletics to life and Dublin Institute of Technology Head of Sport Sinead McNulty on how sport will be central to the new DIT development at Grangegorman.
