Each weekend, we highlight some of the performances that light up the Irish sporting landscape.

This weekend, we highlight action in Gaelic Football, Rugby, Cricket, Show Jumping and Women’s Sport.

This week’s Champions of the Weekend is brought to you by Dublin City Council, one of Sport for Business’s key partners.

Connacht Rugby

The opening of the new Clan Stand as part of Dexcom Stadium meant that over 12,000 fans were able to experience the action live.  This is a real moment for Connacht to expand the already great work it is doing for the sport and the sporting community West of the Shannon.

Irish Show Jumping

Irish show jumpers recorded five major international victories across three continents over the weekend, underlining the depth and consistency of Ireland’s presence at the top end of the sport.

Gaelic Football

The opening weekend of the Allianz League brought a reminder of just how exciting football became last year and continued through the winter at the AIB Club Championships.  The Lidl Ladies Football League introduced its new rules to a positive response across the country as well, despite the rain.

Ireland U19 Cricket

The Ireland U19 Cricket team secured a place in the Super Six stage of the ICC T20 Cricket World Cup, putting them among the Top 6 nations in the world at this age level.

Munster Rugby

A dramatic conclusion to the game against the Dragons on Friday night brought the win back after it looked like it was drifting away.

The Her Sport Awards

Taking place at the Helix Theatre on Friday night, this annual celebration of Her Sport’s support for Women’s Sport, sponsored by Lidl, was as positive an event as ever before.  We’ll have a full report on the night to follow.
