New Ireland announces sponsorship agreement with Cork CamogieNew Ireland Assurance has been announced as the new sponsors of Cork Camogie. The deal starts with this weekend’s throw-in for the Liberty Insurance All Ireland Championship and will run for three years.

New Ireland Assurance will sponsor the Senior, Intermediate, Minor and U16 intercounty Camogie teams as they represent Cork over the next three years. The New Ireland Assurance brand will appear on both the front and the back of all Jerseys worn by the teams.

The announcement follows only weeks after New Ireland were also unveiled as the new sponsors of the Dublin Ladies Football Club Championships.

The Cork Senior Camogie team is on a quest for three in a row All Ireland titles this season and along with the Ladies Football team who are the reigning and long term All Ireland Champions, have provided relief for a powerful county whose men’s teams have disappointed this season.

New Ireland takes over from Costcutter who have sponsored the team for the past three years and who themselves took over from Bord Gais Energy.

“New Ireland Assurance is delighted to be the new sponsor of Cork Camogie, said Regional Manager Mark Kenny.

“The organisation has has a long tradition in supporting Gaelic games in local communities.”

“Cork Camogie have had a fantastic couple of years, going from strength to strength, and we look forward to joining forces and building on this strength and further promoting the game.”

“This represents an exciting time in Cork Camogie and we are looking forward to working together to help grow and develop our national game,” added Cork Camogie Chairperson Mary McSweeney.

“We look forward to the next three years with the support of New Ireland Assurance that this sponsorship deal will help to develop and further enhance Cork Camogie and keep Camogie in Cork to the fore.”

“Furthermore we look forward to the challenge of keeping Cork Camogie competing strongly at the highest level and feel that New Ireland Assurance can support us in achieving this.”

It was a great day all round for women’s sport in Ireland and in Gaelic Games in particular following on from the news that the Government was to invest €1 million over the next two years to support player based programmes in Camogie and Ladies Football through Sport Ireland and with the support of the Women’s Gaelic Players Association.
