Kearys Motor Group have extended its sponsorship of All Ireland Champions Cork camogie for another three years. This extends the deal by the same period as when they came on board in 2022.

“We are delighted and proud to partner Cork camogie for the next three years with this significant sponsorship that reflects Kearys’ culture, values, inclusivity and team spirit,” said CEO Brendan Keary.

“We recognise the value of camogie as one of Ireland’s leading and growing sports for women and girls and we look forward to continuing our great relationship with all the teams who compete at the highest level.”

“Our Cork camogie teams are an amazing group of athletes and are fantastic ambassadors for Cork as we have proven with huge successes over the past three years both at adult and underage levels,” added Cork camogie chairperson, Mairead Donovan.

“Cork as a county are one of the most successful since the 21st century began and over the past 24 years, the Cork inter-county team have competed successfully at senior, intermediate, junior, minor and under-16 levels winning multiple All-Ireland and Munster titles.”

Cork’s Senior Men’s Football and Hurling sponsor is Sports Direct, while SuperValu are the sponsors of the Ladies Football team and of SuperValu Pairc Uí Chaoimh.

SPORT FOR BUSINESS PERSPECTIVE

Cork is one of the counties that has a long tradition of different sponsors for the men’s and women’s teams. This was always a position of strength as there were doubtless others for whom the addition of all teams did not follow through in a distribution of the sponsorship money.

The rise in importance and recognition of Women’s sport has been such that more counties now follow the lead established by Dublin GAA and AIG, backed up by their successor Staycity Aparthotels in creating a fair allocation and insisting on promotional activity being spread across all four codes as well.

WHAT’S UP NEXT?

The integration of Gaelic Games at every level is going to take place by 2027. Sponsorship will be a part of that with AIB already now sponsoring each of the Club Championships currently lighting up the winter weekends. There will be no obligation on a single club sponsor just as there is none in current rules with underage teams often necessitating multiple branded jerseys within the same club.
