
It is a tournament which has been dominated by Dublin in recent years winning each of the last seven titles.
They go into this year as hot favourites to do likewise but all winning runs come to an end, a point that Dublin Manager Jim Gavin is quick to recognise.
There will be no complacency in the side which won the Allianz League at Croke Park last month.
Indeed if history is anything to go by there may be some caution in the team. Three times in history teams have notched up six consecutive titles in Leinster before coming unstuck going for seven.
Dublin got over that hump last year, but there is little doubt that each of the Dublin, Kildare and Wexford teams back in the days before sports science and blanket media coverage would have felt they were impregnable. Â It’s the nature of sport to always believe in victory. Â It never lasts forever.
They will bring their travelling army of fans to either Tullamore or Aughrim on May 27th to face the winners of Offaly and Wicklow.
So history is on the line in more ways than one.
