The Cannon Kirk GillenMarkets Irish Squash Open continues through the weekend at the Fitzwilliam Club in Dublin but without the last irish interest on the court.

Ulster’s Hannah Craig had advanced to the Quarter Final but found World number 18 and Number One seed Nada Abbas just too good yesterday..

Abbas came from three points down to claim the first set before adding a second in quick fashion. She closed out the match in the third with some brilliant points.

This journey is over then for Craig after a terrific run where she defeated South African Hayley Ward and 7 seed Yasshmita Jadish Kumar, which will aid Hannah’s ascent up the world rankings, from her current position of #89.

She turned pro last Autumn and this tournament, alongside her Gold medal in the ESF European Team Championships – Division 3 last week will fill her with plenty of confidence for the rest of the season.

The LA 2028 Olympic games will be the ultimate goal for Craig, with squash making its way onto the Olympic programme for the Games four years from now.
