A month after the announcement of their new partnership, Macron and Cricket Ireland have unveiled the new match kits for the Twenty20 International and One Day International teams, representing the colours and symbols of Ireland as a whole.
The T-20 kit jersey, in both short and long-sleeve versions, features three shades of green. The polo collar with a three-button closure is in navy blue, as are the sleeve edges and details on the sides and shoulders.
Covering the shirt is a graphic composed of geometric figures and a sublimated print design of the Celtic knot, a symbol described as ‘representing vital and spiritual energy, but also a talisman against negativity,’ That’s a lot to ask of a graphic buit if youe believe it to be true…
On the right side of the chest, the Macron Hero is printed in white, while on the left the logo of Cricket Ireland is printed with a satin embroidery effect.
Dark green is the primary colour of the jersey for the team playing in the One Day International matches. The polo collar is also navy blue, along with the sleeve edges. The details on the sides and shoulders are gold, as are the Macron Hero and the Cricket Ireland logo, again with satin embroidery.
The graphic characterising this kit is a vertical, tone-on-tone band running down the front left side, within which the Celtic knot design appears again, in a recurrent and intertwined manner.
Both Cricket Ireland jerseys come in a Slim Fit and the main fabric that they are made from is Gotex, an innovative, high-performance yarn.
This is the first range since Macron came on board as the new official kit partner earlier this year and the kit reveal below owes more to fashion than the more traditional side of sport, being all the better for that.
“These new designs are both stunning and classic – they have been designed to provide our women’s and men’s players a distinct look and feel within the global cricket community,” said Richard Holdsworth, High performance director at Cricket Ireland.
“The designs are intended to reflect the format being played – the busier and more frenetic design for T20Is, while a more classic yet simpler style for ODIs.”
“The cricket ball motif features 100 cricket balls, symbolising the 100% pride all of our players feel when pulling on the green jersey for Ireland. Pride in the jersey is not just a cliché for our senior teams, but an ingrained sense of what it means to represent their country. Each and every player within our system understands that they are ambassadors for our clubs, our country and our sport. It is this inter-connectedness of Irish cricket – from grassroots to international – that makes Ireland unique within the top tier of world cricket, and we think that is a special quality that we are literally wearing on our sleeves.”
