Cúl Heroes, the official trading cards and magazine of the GAA/GPA, have launched their 2019 collection which is on sale across the 32 counties and online from today.
This year’s brand ambassadors include star players such as James McCarthy, Padraic Mannion, Rory Beggan, Noel McGrath, Cian Lynch, Sinead Goldrick, Grace Walsh and Lyndsey Davey pictured above.
Cúl Heroes is now in its fifth year on the market and is seen as an important way to promote the players and the skills of Gaelic Games, via a medium that has long been a winner in international and Premier League football.
This year’s trading card collection includes more than 600 cards, including a mixture of players, as well as gold, silver and bronze cards. Each card includes a positive message around diet and emotional wellbeing.
As well as the cards other products that have been developed within the collection include a new game “Steps, Shoot, Tackle” and collector tins to get the collection off to a flying start with 50 cards, priced at €10. The packs themselves include seven cards and are on sale for €1.50 or £1.30.
“We have worked closely with the GAA and GPA to promote our national games to the younger fans throughout the Island, said Cúl Heroes Managing Director Matt McCormack.
“Every year we add to the collection in different ways, and the 2019 collection has our most exciting addition yet, our new game ‘Steps. Shoot. Tackle’.
“The game uses cards from the collection. It lines out 15 players v 15 players with goals and points counted up at the end. We feel this will add to our collectors’ enjoyment, their knowledge of counties, clubs and players all over Ireland, as well as being fun for all the family.”
“We can’t find any other trading card involving team sports that have male and female players in the same collection.”
“We believe more than ever that these cards help promote our games in a very positive way with our youth and we hope they get as much enjoyment out of this year’s collection as they did in previous years.”
“Our players are fantastic ambassadors for our great games,” said GAA President John Horan.
“Young people look up to these players and with Cúl Heroes they can learn more about them and our games.”
“All of our members are role models in society and Cúl Heroes cards helps to connect them with children nationally and locally,” added GPA CEO Paul Flynn.
