Reports are circulating this morning that Leo Cullen and Leinster rugby have agreed to another two-year extension to his tenure as Head Coach at the province.
His period in charge has seen huge success and the team is carrying on this year with qualification assured for the final stages of the Heineken Champions Cup and a Dublin Final to aim at as well as an unbeaten 12-match streak in the BKT United Rugby Championship.
Getting Cullen’s deal signed is a win for the province with Stuart Lancaster moving on at the end of this year to become Head Coach at Racing 92.
It provides certainty and continuity for an operation that has barely had a misstep since he took over from Matt O’Connor back in 2014.
Cullen was captain of the team that won the Heineken Cup in 2009, 2011, and 2012 and has won it again as a Coach in 2018, as well as getting to two other Finals and winning the United Rugby Championship or its predecessor on four occasions.
Highly respected within the game he is a perfect ambassador for Leinster and the signing is a win for new CEO Shane Nolan in his first year at the helm after taking over from Mick Dawson.
