Excitement is building for GamerFest 2024, as Ireland’s leading gaming and esports festival returns to the RDS this May 25th and 26th with gamers from across the country set to gather for an unforgettable weekend.
From the latest games to sport competitions with GAA Legends and content creators set to appear, there’s something for everyone, from dedicated gamers to family visitors.
Two GAA legends will be at GamerFest from 2pm to 3pm for the ‘Give Home Advantage’ challenge – Dublin’s Eamon Fennell on 25th May and Paddy Andrews on 26th May. This challenge will see Paddy and Eamon take on both content creators and members of the audience on the live stage in EA FC24 gaming challenges to raise funds for Dublin Simon Community.
The challenge aims to highlight to gamers that living in homelessness is like playing a game that’s nearly impossible to beat. Players will play against the CPU – home team – on legendary difficulty, and see what it’s like to have no home advantage.
The challenge can only be defeated when the player raises their statistics, which is done by raising money for Dublin Simon Community. When gamers donate to give their player the home advantage, they’ll help Dublin Simon Community to give someone home advantage too.
“Along with all the fantastic gaming content happening at this year’s GamerFest, we’re delighted to have Dublin Simon Community and GAA Legends joining us for the weekend to raise awareness and donations among the gaming community for a worthwhile cause,” said Stuart Dempsey, Founder of gamerFest.
“We are thrilled to be selected as a charity partner for GamerFest,” said Catherine Kenny, CEO of Dublin Simon Community.
“This partnership represents an innovative approach to fundraising for Dublin Simon Community, enabling us to connect with new audiences and engage with the dynamic gaming community. Living in homelessness can be like playing a game that’s nearly impossible to beat. We look forward to showcasing the positive impact of gaming and raising essential funds to support our mission to end homelessness.”

Some of Ireland’s leading content creators will appear at GamerFest across the weekend, making it a go-to event for gaming enthusiasts to see their favourite creators.
Attendees can meet leading personalities including TheGaraShow, Ryan Mar and Shauna Davitt, with more to be announced. The Mooju Creator Stage will be home to loads of gaming activities, as well as creators going head-to-head with the audience.
The Live Esports Stage, sponsored by Pringles and Lynx, will be a hub of energy across the weekend.
Visitors can watch top players battle it out for glory in Counter Strike 2 on Saturday May 25 and Valorant on Sunday May 26, with an electric atmosphere, full production, live commentary and more.
Shining a spotlight on Ireland’s talented local game developers, GamerFest’s Indie Dev Zone is dedicated to showcasing the creativity of indie game designers.
Visitors will be able to play prototypes of new games, chat to the developers themselves, and learn more about the game development process. It’s a must see for those interested in a gaming career, with Pulse College and Black Shamrock Studio available on the day to chat to about education and career pathways in the games industry.
