Aside from what is thought to be a five figure cash sum, the centre, regarded as the North East’s premier shopping destination will also provide a number of commercial benefits. It replaces Hunky Dory on the team shirts but that brand of Largo Crisps remains as the stadium sponsor for the club.
“We couldn’t be happier to be associated with Scotch Hall Shopping Centre for the next two years at least,” said club Chairman Jim Agnew at a briefing in the local D Hotel. “It is a very positive thing for the town as well as being a huge vote of confidence in the club. We have started the season well and this will add to the sense that the club is moving in the right direction.”
Mark Morgan, Centre Manager for Scotch Hall Shopping Centre, was equally delighted “Drogheda United is the town’s best known brand,” added Scotch Hall Shopping Centre Manager, Mark Morgan. “The club flies the flag for the town and region on a national stage week in week out. Scotch Hall Shopping Centre is very proud to embark on a long-term relationship with the club and we see this sponsorship agreement as bringing value to both Scotch Hall and Drogheda United.”
Drogheda United is the second top flight club to secure a new sponsor since the start of the season after Bohemians signed up with DHL in February. The new kit will be worn for the first time as Drogheda look to extend an unbeaten League run of eight games against table topping Sligo Rovers at Hunky Dory Park on Friday night.
