The Republic of Ireland Women’s National Team will take on France in their final home EURO 2025 Qualifier in Group A3 in SuperValu Páirc Uí Chaoimh on Tuesday, July 16th.
Due to both Tallaght Stadium and Aviva Stadium being unavailable for this date, the Football Association of Ireland has agreed with The Gaelic Athletic Association (GAA) and Cork GAA to use the Cork venue for the match.
This will be the first time since June 2012 that the WNT will have played a home fixture outside Dublin and it will be their seventh game overall in Cork – following five previously in Turner’s Cross and one in Flower’s Lodge.
This will be the 13th meeting between Ireland and France at senior women’s level and the third time that the game will be hosted in Cork following on from an International Friendly in 1994 and a EURO qualifier in 2011 – both of which were in Turner’s Cross.
UEFA have confirmed that all games on Match Day 6 of the group stage will kick off at 19:00 CET (18:00 Irish Time). Depending on the way that results go between England and Ireland, and Sweden and France in gameweek five, the game will have relevance for the final finishing positions in the group, and as a result on the path towards qualification for the Euro 2025 Finals.
Ireland WNT Head Coach Eileen Gleeson said: “It’s exciting to be able to play our final game in our EURO 2025 qualifying campaign in Cork. With both Tallaght Stadium and the Aviva Stadium unavailable it opens up new opportunities.”
“I’ve no doubt that our fans across the Munster region will come out to support us and we’re looking forward to playing in front of another large crowd and finishing our group campaign on a high.”
The game and the venue will have significant resonance for midfielder Denise O’Sullivan who is proud of her Cork heritage.
Cork GAA CEO Kevin O’Donovan said: “We are thrilled to welcome the Irish Senior Women’s Football team to SuperValu Páirc Uí Chaoimh for such an historic occasion on July 16th.”
“On what will be a special date for the city of Cork, this will provide another signal of our desire to rightfully incorporate female sports in our stadium on an equal footing with their male counterparts. #COYGIG”
Tickets for the France game will be available through Ticketmaster.ie from Friday, June 14th with WNT Season Tickets valid. The game will also be broadcast live on RTÉ2.
