100,000 Steps

His Uncle Joe was Galway’s winning captain in 1980 and he has helped to gather illustrious names like DJ Carey from Kilkenny, Anthony Daly and Patrick Donnellan from Clare and 2,500 walkers covering 88KM walks over this Thursday, Friday and Saturday. Each of the walkers have been asked to pledge €20 while a total of 100 individuals, clubs and businesses have been targeted for a figure of €500 in support of the event.
Hitting the Greens for the Green Army

The team will stage a major qualifying tournament at UCD next March and are raising funds to assist with the extra preparation that can get them over the line having narrowly missed out on making it to London 2012.
In April they came second in a Champions’ Challenge event in Glasgow depute being seeded 7 of the 8 participating teams. Businesses who would like to help the team in a small way can enter a team of four for €400 or sponsor a hole for €200. Paris-Nice

Adie McGennis from Sigmar Recruitment and Greg Clarke of Digicom and the Dublin Chamber of Commerce have been training hard while top Dublin Chefs Derry Clark of l’Ecrivain and Ross Lewis of Chapter One will also be pounding out the kilometres. This is the first time Lewis has attempted such a long cycle but he has been training in Wicklow and is confident of making it across France.
Niall McGloughlin of the Irish Youth Foundation is another to sign up for the cause. This is his second run at the event having raised over €40,000 with his team the last time around.
