The Camogie Association had its All Stars Awards on Saturday night and while it may not have had the benefit of Live television coverage that was no barrier to them putting on a best in class show both in the room and on social media.
There was the small matter of Ireland and the All Blacks in Chicago but #CamogieAllStars was still trending through much of the night and there was a massive engagement from the Camogie community.
Sponsors Liberty Insurance had weighed in before the event creating a range of social media content building up the shortlisted nominees for the awards and promoting their campaign hashtag #SupportHerSport.

Staying ahead of the social media curve there was a Facebook Live session with some of those up for the awards before the main event and it was very much a show in the CityWest Hotel with Paddy Casey viewing with Minister of State Patrick O’Donovan for the attention of the real stars the players themselves.
“The Liberty Insurance Camogie All-Star Awards recognise players that have entertained us all during the 2016 season with their skill, athleticism, determination and commitment,” said Camogie Association President Catherine Neary.
“To win an All-Stars Award or a Soaring Stars Award is a wonderful achievement for any player. Congratulations also to the 2016 Manager of the Year, Ann Downey of Kilkenny.”
“It is a seminal night for Camogie and the many fantastic players who have represented their county this year, particularly for the winners of the Senior, Intermediate and Junior Player’s Player of the Year Awards,” added Aoife Lane, Chair of the Women’s Gaelic Players Association.
“To be selected by your peers is the ultimate compliment for these players; so equally we acknowledge the excellence of Denise Gaule, Ciara Holden and Eleanor Tracey and congratulate them on their achievements in 2016.”
“It has been a wonderful season for Camogie, we all look forward to continued growth and development into 2017.”
