Slide2China is likely to become the fastest growing export market for Irish goods and services in the coming years, according to a positive bi-annual report from HSBC.

The banking giant’s forecast is for China’s importance to double from being responsible for 2% of our net exports to twice that over the next fifteen years.

“Although the rich developed markets will continue to offer the best opportunities for Ireland’s exporters in the near-term, fast-growing demand from emerging markets will becoming increasingly significant over time,” said HSBC Ireland Head of Corporate Banking Alan Duffy.

Sport for Business is undertaking a fact finding Mission to China on behalf of a number of companies and organisations in the sport and sports services area in May of this year, ahead of a potential broader introduction to the market in the next twelve months.

We are attending a major exhibition and speaking at the associated conference in Beijing which will have an audience of 1,000 major figures in the administration of Chinese sport.

Among the areas where there is potential for Ireland to sell expertise and services are sports tourism, venur management, sports science and technology.
