The infrastructure and support service contract has been awarded to Irish owned cloud services and support company, Auxilion, following a government e-procurement tender.
The contract is valued at €107,000 for the initial roll-out, and gives a major collective saving compared to each of the governing bodies signing up to individual suppliers. A total of 80 staff across the different sports will have access to their systems through the new arrangement.
“The project has helped the National Governing Bodies achieve savings with an enhanced service. It also helped to initiate the 2011 Programme for Government to promote greater use of e-government, IT shared services and cloud computing,” commented David Conway, CEO, NSCDA.
“With the help of Auxilion we were able to implement the project with ease. Instead of the complexity and cost of 19 different vendors we now have one ICT supplier. The service includes the provision of enterprise class cloud based video conferencing designed to reduce travel costs.”
The savings in this one area will likely give rise to others as the value of collaboration and sharing becomes ever more apparent. This has always been a key component of how Sport for Business adds value as well by aggregating intelligence and analysis from around the sporting world and bringing sport and business closer together.
