Ireland Head Coach Scott Bemand has confirmed his Match Day Squad for Sunday’s Women’s Rugby World Cup Pool C encounter against Spain at Franklin’s Gardens in Northampton (kick-off 12 pm).

Following last weekend’s impressive bonus-point victory over Japan, Ireland will be looking to maintain their momentum as they face into a second consecutive test on English soil.

Sam Monaghan once again captains the side from the second row, with Linda Djougang set to win her 50th cap – becoming just the 15th Irish Women’s international to reach the landmark. The Clontarf prop, who made her debut in 2019, has been a consistent performer across six seasons and already has nine international tries to her name.

There are changes in the backline, with Anna McGann coming onto the right wing alongside Stacey Flood and Amee-Leigh Costigan in the back three. The midfield partnership of Eve Higgins and Aoife Dalton remains unchanged, while Dannah O’Brien – flawless from the tee last weekend with six from six – continues at out-half alongside scrum-half Molly Scuffil-McCabe, one of four players set for their first World Cup involvement this weekend.

Up front, Ellena Perry is named for her first Ireland start in the front row with Clíodhna Moloney MacDonald and Djougang. Eimear Corri-Fallon comes into the second row alongside Monaghan, while Fiona Tuite, Claire Boles and Grace Moore form the back row.

The bench features Neve Jones, Siobhán McCarthy, Sadhbh McGrath, Ruth Campbell and Brittany Hogan among the forward cover, with Emily Lane, Enya Breen and Nancy McGillivray completing the 23.

Sunday’s Pool C fixture is live on RTÉ2 and BBC Two, with TG4 providing additional coverage of the wider tournament across the weekend.

Watch out across the coverage and around the country for activations from Vodafone, Energia, Bank of Ireland, Goodfella’s and others in support of the Green Wave campaign.
