An Ireland win that might have sneaked under the radar last week was that of the Irish team competing in the Sport Parkinsons 4 Nations Golf Tournament

The tournament was held for the first time this year at the Belfry, once the staging home of the Ryder Cup.

The Irish team was made up of 8 men and two women all of whom continue to play the sport despite having been diagnosed with Parkinson’s Disease.

They put up a strong first day performance winning all five pairings in the match play matches. They also won the most points on Day Two in a fourball competition that also included celebrity and sponsor players.

The Irish team was the first to field female players in The tournament.

The Irish Parkinson’s Golf Network hosts tournaments and runs events for players who have been diagnosed but who wish to continue playing, to return to the game or to take it up for the first time.
