BT Sport have taken over the package of early Saturday kick offs that have up until now been shown on Sky Sports. Setanta signed to bring these to the irish market last week and will now provide 1245 and 1500 Saturday kick offs to its subscriber base.
The season gets underway on August 17th and each of Liverpool, Man United and Arsenal will be shown live six times within the first six weeks.
Everton against Liverpool and Tottenham against Chelsea are among the five of the season long 18 ‘top pick’ games that BT Sport have revealed so far.
The channels, available on Setanta from August 1st will also carry 30 live matches from the Scottish Premier League, 25 from the FA Cup as well as Serie A and Budesliga action, 69 rugby matches from the English Premiership and French Top 14, 21 live events from the Women’s tennis tour and 30 UFC events.
“This is a very exciting time for us in Setanta with the addition of BT Sport 1, BT Sport 2 and ESPN, said Brian Quinn, Marketing Operations Director with Setanta.
“To have 71 Barclays Premier League games this season including 18 top picks is fantastic. We feel that our initial fixture list as announced today will appeal to most football fans but of course fans of Man United, Liverpool, Chelsea and Arsenal will be particularly pleased. Having games like the Merseyside derby, Spurs v Man United and Spurs v Chelsea is a real step up in quality for us.”
The new material will be in addition to the Allianz League GAA, Formula One, Basketball, Schools Rugby, Champions’, Europa and Airtricity League action already carried by Setanta.
The Sports pack on Setanta will cost €199 for a year or can be paid monthly at a cost of €19.99. Customers of BT Broadband in Northern Ireland and across the UK will have access to the sports channels included in their subscription at no additional charge.
