In the third part of our four-part series examining Irish Sport on Social Media in June 2025, we turn our attention to Instagram, which generated 3.22 million public engagements across the 41 sporting accounts we track in the report.

Olytico’s overall analysis for June 2025 encompasses over 14,000 posts, 5.9 million engagements, and 24.8 million views of Sport for Business organisation’s content on TikTok.

As we reach the halfway mark of 2025, Olytico’s analysis for this year to date has covered 79,247 posts (+6% on the same time period in 2024), 33.85 million public engagements (-6.5%) and 140.3 million views on Sport for Business member content on TikTok (+56%) highlighting the increased prominence and importance of the platform for sport.

Throughout this week’s coverage, we have ranked each organisation across a range of metrics on each network, including the most active, the most engaged with, and the most engaging content, as well as engagements per 1,000 followers where possible.

It is important to note that this analysis is based on publicly available data. It does not include any analysis or insight on paid or promoted content. When % figures are used (unless otherwise stated), they refer to the previous month’s figures.

June 2025 Highlights on Instagram

 

 

Instagram activity rose 2% to 3,363 posts and saw a 15% increase in engagements to 3.22 million.

The League of Ireland topped the activity charts with 593 posts (-16%) with the big news from Tolka Park. The NIFL were in second with 342 posts (-4%), with Ireland Football (213, +115%) in third.

The League of Ireland account created 593 posts duering the month compared to 464 a year ago in the same period.

Other numbers to note are that the GAA increased its average engaegement per post from 3,597 per post in June 2024 to 3,758 this year.

Irish Rugby (4,923, -64%) topped the average engagement per post chart, followed by the GAA (3,758, -1%) and Munster Rugby (237, +22%) as they celebrated the career of Peter O’Mahony.

Volleyball Ireland (2,896) claimed the top spot for ‘highest engagements per 1,000 followers’ as they brought us the latest from the 2025 SCA Men’s Championship.

 

With over 35,000 public engagements to date, this reel from Ireland Football took us to the heart of the action as Ireland’s Down Syndrome Futsal team kicked off their European Championship campaign in Italy against Portugal.
