Waterford captain Emma Murray and Galway’s Niamh Mallon have been named the PwC GPA Women’s Players of the Month for June in football and camogie respectively, while Dublin’s Conor Burke and Meath’s Jordan Morris took the men’s hurling and football honours in the PwC GAA/GPA monthly awards.

The awards recognise standout performances as teams fought for progression in the All-Ireland Championships, with each of the winners making pivotal contributions in crunch games throughout the month.

Inspirational Leadership from Waterford’s Murray

Emma Murray was instrumental for Waterford during a defining month in the All-Ireland Senior Football Championship. She scored two points and drove her team forward with relentless energy as they came agonisingly close to a first-ever senior championship win over Dublin, only for the reigning champions to snatch a draw with a last-second point.

Undeterred, Murray then led from the front again, captaining the Déise to a resounding 21-point victory over Leitrim, a result that reignited Waterford’s momentum in the competition.

Galway’s Mallon Sparks Camogie Charge

Niamh Mallon played a defining role in Galway’s camogie campaign. After contributing a point in her side’s eight-point win over Kilkenny, she produced a player-of-the-match performance in the table-topping clash with Waterford that secured Galway a direct passage to the All-Ireland semi-final at the end of July.

Burke Stars as Dublin Shock Limerick

On the hurling front, Conor Burke’s trajectory was one of resilience and impact. After scoring a point off the bench in Dublin’s 21-point win over Kildare, he was rewarded with a starting berth for the All-Ireland quarter-final against four-in-a-row champions Limerick.

Despite playing with 14 men for most of the game, Dublin produced a stunning upset. Burke’s five points from play were central to their dramatic win and earned his place in the spotlight ahead of a semi-final showdown with Cork.

Comeback King Morris Fires Meath to Final Four

Jordan Morris capped a remarkable personal comeback from a suspected season-ending injury earlier in the year to fire Meath to two historic wins. He notched two points in Meath’s All-Ireland Championship victory over Kerry—their first since 2001—before delivering a sensational 1-6 in the quarter-final against Galway.

His 1-2 in the closing minutes was decisive as Meath booked a semi-final clash with Donegal, with Morris earning a deserved man-of-the-match award for his efforts.

Celebrating Excellence

PwC Ireland Managing Partner Enda McDonagh praised the winners for rising to the occasion when it mattered most.

“It’s an incredible achievement to inspire your team to victory in the pressure cooker environment of any inter-county match, never mind in the latter stages of the All-Ireland Championship.”

“Our June winners have done exactly that and everyone at PwC extends warm congratulations to Niamh, Emma, Conor, and Jordan on their well-deserved recognition.”

GAA President Jarlath Burns acknowledged the exceptional standards set during a fiercely competitive month of Championship action.

“As the championships were at their busiest and most frantic in the month of June, the job of picking the players of the month was arguably at its toughest.”

“The performances of Jordan and Conor and that of Emma and Niamh were a class apart, and I congratulate them on their awards and thank them for the commitment they make to Gaelic games and the enjoyment they give to so many.”

GPA CEO Tom Parsons also applauded the award recipients.

“I want to extend heartiest congratulations to Conor, Emma, Jordan and Niamh on this recognition of your outstanding performances in June, as voted by your fellow players.”

“It takes something extra special to rise to the top when all players are pushing themselves to their limits. Thank you for putting on display the best of the skills, athleticism and leadership in our games.”
