KelloggsGolf 002Kellogg’s Nutri-Grain is repeating its sponsorship of a major golf skills challenge being managed through the Golfing Union of Ireland National Golf Academy at Carton House and open to all players.

A new format for the event, which was held for the first time last year, will enable golf clubs throughout Ireland to host their own  Challenge.

The Challenge is a competition which aims to find Ireland’s most skilled amateur golfers and reward excellence. Golfers can test their aptitude with five core golfing skills; Driving, Target Golf, Pitching, Up and Down, and Putting. The competition is open to all golfers aged 16 or over, who have an official GUI or ILGU handicap.

The new format includes a specially designed Golf Skills Challenge Tool Kit providing Golf Clubs throughout Ireland the tools necessary to organise and host a Kellogg’s Nutri-Grain Golf Skills Challenge of their own.

Clubs can get involved by registering for a Kellogg’s Nutri-Grain Golf Skills Tool Kit where, as with previous years, individuals compete to become the Kellogg’s Nutri-Grain National Skills Champion for 2014.  Individual players may also enter competition.

Those who take part will have their scores registered on a national score board, which will be hosted on www.bettergolf.ie.ie and the top 60 qualifiers will progress to a national final which will be hosted by Kellogg’s Nutri-Grain at the GUI National Golf Academy in September.

“This challenging but fun competition really gives Clubs and their Professionals a structured way in which to develop the golf skills of their members,” said Kenny Fahey, Head Professional at the GUI National Golf Academy.

“the support of our partners Kellogg’s Nutri-Grain we are able to bring the challenge to a wider audience this year.”

Jim McNeill, Managing Director of Kellogg Ireland added: “As a long suffering golfer, I know how important the core skills of the game are. We are delighted to be able to continue to support this partnership with the GUI National Golf Academy.”

There is no entry fee for this competition and details are available at www.bettergolf.ie.
