Promotional packs of Kellogg’s Corn Flakes and Kellogg’s Rice Krispies will feature a unique code, which can be used online by parents to receive a €5 discount off the €55 fee for the 2013 Kellogg’s GAA Cúl Camps.
The unique codes will be printed on the inside of promotional packs, available in stores from April to August 2013. The ability to promote the sports in such a high profile way was a major factor in the increase of six percent in attendance at the camps enjoyed in 2012 over 2011.
The willingness of a commercial partner to promote sport through their primary channels is one of the greatest benefits that can accrue from any sponsorship and the reach of a company like Kellogg’s, available through every major supermarket chain and retailer is a great boost for GAA sports among a critical and easily distracted audience.
The popularity of Gaelic games among Irish parents is affirmed by the fact that 42% of those asked in a survey as part of the launch plan to send their children to a Kellogg’s GAA Cúl Camp this year.
Having fun (30%) and value for money (25%) are the two most important factors parents consider when choosing a summer camp for their children. 85% of parents surveyed believed that the Kellogg’s GAA Cúl Camps represent ‘good value for money’.
Last year’s initial sponsorship saw a national attendance of 82,000 at the camps and was recognised by a major European Sponsorship Award for the programme.
“Kellogg’s came on board as the title sponsor of the GAA Cúl Camps in 2012 and this has been a tremendously successful partnership,” said GAA President, Liam Ó Néill.
“Kellogg’s support in 2012 delivered phenomenal results with Cúl Camps attendances up 6% on 2011.”
“At Kellogg’s we are committed to partnerships which support communities, enhance skills and deliver value for money for hard pressed consumers.” added Kellogg’s Managing Director, Jim McNeill.
“We are delighted that our support of the GAA Cúl Camps has encouraged greater participation and we are committed to continuing this support in 2013, so that more Irish families can enjoy the Kellogg’s GAA Cúl Camp experience.”
Over one thousand camps will take place in communities all over Ireland during July and August with 2,100 voluntary coaches giving over 30,000 hours of coaching to young children.
