
Clubs can benefit to the tune of €50 each time a member takes out a new private motor or home policy with the insurer. The payment to a club is triggered when the new customer enters their policy number at libertygaa.ie
An initial €5,000 will be added to the pot with €50 being paid to the first 100 clubs to sign up before August 10th.
There will also be a draw for one club to win an additional cash payment of €10,000. To enter the draw club members need to request a quote on home or motor insurance and then register their quote reference number through the same site.
Liberty came on board for a five year sponsorship term this season, replacing Guinness as one of the three main partner of the All Ireland Hurling Championship and adding the All Ireland Camogie Championship headline sponsorship as well, the first time the two sports had been so closely tied through commercial partnership.
The company spoke at the time about rolling out different methods of engagement with customers and activation and this is one of the most direct ways yet.
Head of Marketing Annette ní Dhathlaoi spoke at the Sport for Business Business of Women’s Sport conference in June and highlighted making a connection with those who are involved in sport at grassroots level as being a very important part of the ways in which the sponsorship should work.
Liberty has been blessed with this year’s Hurling Championship being the most exciting for many years with Dublin and Limerick breaking through as Champions of Leinster and Munster respectively and a real buzz around the sport as evidenced by the launch of the ‘I am Hurling’ initiative we covered yesterday.
Centra and Etihad Airways have been similar winners from their close association with the sport and the Liberty grassroots initiative comes hot on the heels of a similar five figure investment in the club structure being promoted by Etihad.
There are 2,500 GAA clubs across Ireland and a growing number in Europe and further afield. Finance at club level is a major issue at present and is an area which Sport for Business will focus on in the Autumn.
