The nine counties of Leinster outside of Dublin come under the spotlight in this, our fourth in a series looking at the regional allocation of Sports Capital Grants.
The population of 1.23 million is broadly similar to those of Dublin and Munster but the sums invested at €7.52 million produces by far the highest per capita figure of €6.10.  The next highest after it is €5.65 given over to those living in the Connaught / Ulster region.
Soccer pays a price for its strength in Dublin with only one fifth of the money allocated to GAA in the rest of Leinster as opposed to 90% of the comparative figure in the capital.
We will look tomorrow at an overall comparison on how the major sports have done against each other on a region by region basis.
The GAA is strong as would be expected though €847,117 going to projects in Meath is high in comparison to most.  The next biggest beneficiary in GAA terms is Louth with €330,300.

Boxing also features prominently despite the rebuild of a new facility for Bray Boxing Club at Ballywaltrim coming under town council funding and not being included in these figures.  The largest single grant within the sport is €115,000 to the Holy Family Boxing Club in Dundalk.
Athletics, Tennis and Gymnastics were three that did well again, as they have in most regions.
