The KPMG Women’s Irish Open hosted a great day for partners and media at Carton House Fairmont on Tuesday, only four weeks out from the staging of this year’s tournament in it’s new higher profile spot on the Ladies European Tour.

Last year’s winner Annabel Dimmock was the star guest in a Breakfast session for the partners and spoke with humour and candour about the experience of last year’s win.

Coming through a two hole playoff with Patrice Bouchard required nerves of steel, though that was not the way she felt going back to the 18the tee box for the third time in front of a packed gallery around the green.

We spoke as well to Stephen King a Senior Partner at KPMG about the impact that the partnership has on business and its continued commitment in particular to Women’s sport.

Theresa McCann is the new Commercial Director of the Tour and was delighted to be back on Irish soil. The New Yorker has Irish roots and will bring her two decades of experience at NBC in the States to bear on elevating both the tournament and the Tour.

Martin Mangan GM at the spectacular venue welcomed everyone and then it was out onto the course for a nine hole scramble before Leona Maguire joined media by video link from the US to talk about how her preparations are building up for the second Major of the season across the Atlantic and then a return to Europe.

All will be back for the KPMG ClubHouse chats at the tournament which tees up with a busy pro-am on Wednesday July 2nd.

It was a great opportunity for the blue chip roster of partners and sponsors to meet up, forge connections and perhaps discover new ways that they will activate their partnership in front of an expected crowd of over 40,000.

KPMG renewed their Title Partnership after three successful iterations of the tournament last year and they are joined by Amgen, Amundi, BMW and McCann Fitzgerald as Premium Partners; by Hiscox, Fairmont Hotels and Resorts, Novellus and Nespresso as co-sponsors; The LET, Carton House, Forefront Group, Fáilte Ireland, Into Kildare, Kildare County Council and Sport Ireland as Official Host Partners; and by Sport for Business, Sky Sports, RTÉ, the National Breast Cancer Research institute; Irish Golfer, Paddy Talks Golf and Lucy Tormey Design as partners.

We will have more news from the tournament including some extra news on the reigning champion and on a new partnership over the next 24 hours.
