Dermot Rigley is moving on from his position as Chief Commercial Officer with PRO14 Rugby to pursue other opportunities in the sporting world.
In a statement issued yesterday, PRO14 Rugby said that:
“Dermot led the commercial function with unprecedented success with year on year revenue growth, delivering record-breaking domestic and international media rights deals, as well as delivering 3 record-breaking PRO14 Finals in a row.”
“During his tenure, Dermot was an intrinsic contributor to the successes that the business achieved, which culminated in a successful private equity deal with CVC, completed in May 2020.”
“On the digital front, Dermot was instrumental in launching the first rugby rights holder global OTT service direct to consumers and as well delivering the new audience first In Crowd PRO14 App.”
“I would like to extend the warmest gratitude to Dermot for his hard work and effective contribution to PRO14 over the last four years. We wish him the very best for the future.” Dominic McKay, Chair, PRO14.
Prior to joining Pro14 Rugby Rigley was the Commercial Manager for RTÉ Sport where he built up a significant store of experience and contacts in the sporting world both here in Ireland and around the world.
“The last four years as chief commercial officer at the Guinness PRO14 have been a genuine privilege and the most rewarding of my career,” he said last night.
“After 3 Finals, a hugely successful TV cycle and working with some of the best brands in the business, I feel it’s time to hand the baton on. I’d like to thank all the great partners I’ve had the pleasure with over recent years and wish all at the Guinness PRO14 the best in the exciting time for global professional club rugby.”
He has always been a good friend to Sport for Business and we wish him well in whatever the next chapter proves to be. We don’t believe that he will be on the sidelines for long.
