Saturday’s coverage of Ireland’s Guinness Six Nations win over England at Twickenham on RTÉ2 drew a peak audience of just over one million viewers.
The average of 775,000 viewers represented a share of 61 per cent of those watching television with 103,000 additional streams delivered on RTÉ Player.
The peak came at the end of the game when there were 1,008,000 tuned in.
The large audience also delivered for Saturday GAA Live on RTÉ2 featuring Kerry against Mayo with an average of 362,000 watching, a 30 per cent share, and peaking at 461,000.
The Six Nations game between Wales and France on Friday night on RTÉ2 was watched by an average of 296,000 viewers with a share of 22 per cent and a peak of 364,000.
This weekend sees the climax of the Six Nations with the crucial France v England game live on RTÉ2 and RTÉ Player when Jacqui Hurley will be joined by Jamie Heaslip, Jerry Flannery and Stephen Ferris from 7.35 pm. Earlier on Saturday, Wales face Italy at the Principality Stadium with live coverage on RTÉ2 and RTÉ Player from 2.00 pm. Ireland’s last game in the Championship, a win in which would secure a Triple Crown and give a shot at the Championship should England beat France will be shown live on Virgin Media One.
Saturday’s will have four live free-to-air games with RTÉ also showing live coverage of Emirates Lions v Munster in the URC from Emirates Airlines Park, on RTÉ2 and RTÉ Player. Daire O’Briain will be presenting with CJ Stander as a guest analyst.
